About

Charlotte Engel is a New York City based makeup artist who specializes in period and historic hair and makeup.

Her first experience as a makeup artist was at age 16 where she worked as an assistant on the feature film Before I Disappear (2014), which sparked her interest in working on sets and creating characters to transform people.

In 2019 Charlotte graduated with a degree in History from the University of St Andrews (Scotland) and the College of William & Mary (Virginia) as part of the International Honors Joint Degree Program. It was during this time that she nurtured her passion for history, even working in Colonial Williamsburg as an interpreter to help bring history to life.

She graduated in 2020 from the Makeup Designory school in New York City, where she worked on several beauty and fashion photo shoots. During this time she also had the opportunity to work on set for a professional music video, and backstage at a fashion show at NYFW. Her favorite projects include The Liberator, a historic feature film about 19th century Irishman Daniel O'Connell, and several movies for the Lifetime network. She currently works for MLB Network on their makeup team.

Charlotte hopes to one day join her passion for history with her love of makeup to work on period dramas, bringing the past to life on screen for the enjoyment of everyone.
